As several companies expand their presence globally, many
of them will require secure remote management capabilities
for branch office routers, switches, servers, firewalls,
and other network equipment spread across many locations
locally or around the world. Security and out-of-band
management is important, since remote branches and/or
offices are not within the corporate network. The AlterPathTM
ACS1 allows network managers to have remote and secure
access to all network devices at offsite locations. Additionally,
it provides flexibility and hardware features to meet
the most demanding user requirements. AlterPathTM ACS1's
dual PCMCIA slots allow for enhanced functionality with
support for many interface cards, such as Ethernet, modem
(V.90, GSM, CDMA and ISDN) and wireless LAN. With this
new setup, the ACS1 provides access to remote branches/offices
through many paths regardless of network availability
and provides the
data encryption required to ensure security and network
integrity. By using a PCMCIA I/O card, the data center
manager can even add infrastructure monitoring and control
to the AlterPathTM ACS1 feature set. With this card, the
AlterPathTM ACS1 can provide access to smoke and leak
detectors, temperature and humidity sensors, door alarm
and several facilities monitoring devices. Cyclades' branch
office management solutions are powerful, yet highly compact
console servers used to connect serial devices to a TCP/IP
