Console Management include: A data center needs to
add remote power management capabilities to its servers,
routers, switches and other network equipment physically
spread across many locations. Important features are integration
with the current management infrastructure, security for
authentication and access restrictions and total remote
power control independent of network availability. This
is a scenario very commonly faced by IT professionals,
and can be addressed by connecting the managed devices
to the AlterPathTM PM, an intelligent power distribution
unit (IPDU). IPDUs allow network managers to remotely
power on, off or power cycle their network devices, as
well as monitor the current draw, check the power status
on a certain device and group power outlets together so
that multiple power supply systems can be turned on or
off with a single command. The AlterPathTM PM and its
tight integration with Cyclades console servers allow
IT professionals to have a secure, userfriendly interface
for both console management and power management in a
single user session. By utilizing the AlterPathTM ACS
or the Cyclades-TS as the access method to the AlterPathTM
PM, the two products are viewed, configured and managed
as a single integrated unit. This reduces the risk for
configuration and operation errors and allows the network
manager to benefit from the console management infrastructure
already in place in the data center. All of the security
benefits of the Cyclades console servers, such as SSH
v2, remote authentication, access control and audited
logging capabilities are inherited by the AlterPathTM
PM. All these factors make the integrated AlterPathTM
PM solution secure, reliable and easy to use. The AlterPathTM
PM is a family of Intelligent Power Distribution Units
(IPDU) that enables remote power control of servers and
network gear. When used in conjunction with Cyclades console
servers, the AlterPathTM PM delivers easier management
capabilities and faster problem solving by integrating
console digital display. Users have the ability to set
a current alarm threshold that once exceeded will have
the AlterPathTM PM sound an alarm or send a notification
message. It also incorporates a sequential power-up feature
that prevents all power outlet receptacles from Features:
